Oh, well, then… Continuing on! Severus Snape is not a tall man, barely breaking six foot, though when he was younger he was shorter than the other boys. All Severus’s life, he has been known as the small guy, even after his growth spurt in his seventh year. His size made him the boy who everyone thought they could pick on, not to mention his appearance that made himself seem ungroomed. He uses shampoo, thank you very much! His hair just is naturally shiny in a… greasy and stringy way. His skin is a pale white; the kind of pale one gets when they are sick, so I suppose one could call pallid. His expression is normally unfathomable; his emotions and thoughts are nearly unreadable when around him, except the rare occasions when he smiles due to entertaining events, such as a student cowering below him, or Potter getting in trouble. He has rarely felt happiness since Lily and he had their little, er, big dispute in their sixth year. Over the years, Severus has mastered the control of his emotions, having no one to really care about, despite the fact he works to protect Lily’s son, but he has easily managed to hide his feelings for those deep… beautiful… perfect… green eyes…… Ahem, sorry about that. This master of control has made his expression virtually unreadable, and thus, unfathomable, mysterious; you never know what is going on in his head, unless Lily miraculously came to life again… wait… that did happen? Well, then he might show… some degree of expression when around her. Severus Snape’s wardrobe consists of his black swishy robes, which he insists are not to play around with trying to catch, as he has taught a certain cat and a few daring pranksters (*cough*Crookshanks*cough*). Otherwise, he has black dress robes which… look pretty much like his normal swishy robes. Among these black robes there is a black muggle dress shirt and black slacks, which he only wears when he must go out into the muggle world. Mind you, they are loose fitting as well. Black is his favorite color, or at least a color he enjoys wearing. When he talks, his lips are usually “curled”, and his face turns paler when he is angry. And he has a pretty bad temper. and then a little about yourself likes: Potions Creating Spells Retreating to his Office and Pretending he’s back at school during the 70’s before his and Lily’s fight Seeing Potter in Trouble (as long as he doesn’t look at him in the eyes during the troublemaking) The Color Black Having Power over People Smart People Red Hair (though it does tug at his heartstrings… yes, he has heartstrings too… and so he pretends to hate it) dislikes: Pranksters Those others see as amazing (besides maybe Lily) Stupid People Bright Colors (Besides Red) His Actions in Youth (though he tells himself he hates himself in place of this) Lazy People Crowds Messing Up/Making a Mistake strengths: Intelligence Potions Dark Arts (to his dismay now) Lying Hiding his Feelings Observation Skills Making Life Heck for Harry Potter weaknesses: His Temper His Need to Feel Superior Blunt Rude Unwilling to Forgive boggart: His Father Coming Back to Life or Harry Potter finding out about his love for Lily erised: For Lily to return, and return his love for him, though her just living would be great for him overall personality: Severus Snape is not the most pleasant person, especially when you first meet him, and that is largely due to his torturous past. Sure, the first thing he says to Harry Potter means in essence “I’m so sorry for Lily’s death”, if one takes the meaning behind the ingredients and such, but he never shows that side of him. In fact, he has buried it so deep that even Voldemort could not reach it the past summer when he returned to his job as a spy. Severus Snape has worked very hard to bury such feelings, because the pain that comes with revealing those feelings is too painful for him to remember. And even still, he isn’t completely in control of them, and he sometimes remembers it when he is least expecting. Severus Snape is a man in pain, not only because he lost the only one he ever loved, but also because of the lack of love from his parents, and the constant bullying he faced during his time at Hogwarts. He found that having power over people when he never had power as a kid, fulfilled a longing to have some sort of power, any sort of power he craved as a child. At first, when he began teaching, he hated it with a passion, hating the feeling of power, because it had killed Lily, but those feelings from his childhood came through once more, and made him actually like his job, even though he seems to show outer hatred towards it, or at least his students. Snape is not a forgiving person, and the person he is most unwilling to forgive is himself. He was the reason Lily died, and he has never forgiven himself for that. As punishment, or atonement, he has promised to protect her son, no matter the cost to him. If it means he dies, then so be it. If that means pretending to ally with Voldemort, the man who killed Lily, then so be it. He wants to atone for his terrible deed, and he knows that protecting Harry will not completely atone for it, but might give him a little bit of peace of mind. history your family and such parents: Tobias Snape, Deceased, Father – Eileen Snape –nee Prince, Deceased, Mother siblings: None pets: None born: In Spinner’s End, his father wouldn’t allow her to go to a wizarding hospital, and she couldn’t go to a muggle hospital because there was something going on with her at the time (she had been accidently using magic at random times as a symptom of being pregnant, though she was one of the few who actually showed that sign). overall history: Oh goody; I won’t go into as much detail then. Severus Snape was born to his parents, who loved each other at one point, but Severus never knew those in love parents. In fact, his father was a drunk who abused his mother, and sometimes even turned his hand against poor Severus. And so, Severus spent most of his time out of his house, trying to stay away from his father. His mother never really showed any sorrow for Severus, but she was much better than his father. He then met Lily, who lived nearby, and he studied her before he told her she was a witch, even if she had muggle parents. The two became fast friends, and stayed friends for a long while. Over his years at Hogwarts, he was bullied by the Marauders, as they called themselves, including Lily’s future husband James Potter. He hated them so very much, but he always tried to fight back, Potter was just better. Potter would always pull his pranks on him, torture him basically, until he and his friends were satisfied with the entertainment of pranking him. Severus never knew exactly why they hated him so much, but they had hated each other ever since the first train ride to Hogwarts. He had always wanted to be a Slytherin; Potter and Black wanted Gryffindor. There had always been a rivalry between the two houses, which sprung even more hatred between the Marauders, particularly him and Potter and Black. In his fifth year, Black had tricked him to coming to the Whomping Willow, and venturing to the Shrieking Shack, during a full moon. He had been always curious where the idiots were going, but when he found out that Lupin was a werewolf, he was stunned. So stunned the stag, Potter, had to save him from the werewolf, leaving him unscathed. He always felt like he owed Potter something after that, but he never was willing to repay it. In his sixth year, he and Lily had a fight because he had called her a mudblood, which he felt really bad about afterwards. Given, he was hanging out with the Death Eater wannabes, and it was just a matter of time before the two fought, he was so very upset. They never really made up. He joined the Death Eaters, and relayed half a prophecy to Voldemort, resulting in Lily’s death. He begged Dumbledore to protect Lily, and Dumbledore did. Since then, Severus Snape has been in the service of Dumbledore for him actually trying to save Lily, unlike Voldemort. He earned a teaching position and has been in it ever since. However, it wasn't long before Lily's boy came along, and trouble began occurring. He was the spitting image of his father, a man he despised, and owed at the same time. And he had Lily's eyes. Seeing those eyes on James's body killed him at first. He showed hatred towards Potter, because everyone else seemed to love the boy. Severus saw him as a boy who was somewhat like him when he was his age, but he didn't let that cloud his treatment towards Potter. His treatment being cruel towards Potter was partly because of James's appearance was so prominent in the boy, and because Harry needed someone who he could hate, someone who didn't think he was the "Saint Potter" or he might have become bigheaded. Though it was mostly the James thing, even if partly the rival professor thing. He did not need to take care of an egotistical James reincarnate. Over the years, Severus had saved Harry from trouble, trying to keep Harry from persuing the Stone in 1991-92, which failed. In 1992-93, Severus Snape was one of the leading investigators in the Chamber of Secrets, and while he didn't deal very much directly with helping Potter, he did help Professor Sproud revive the petrified. In 1993-94 he protected the idiot Potter, who stunned him in order to listen to the bully Black and Lupin, who always defended the man, from Lupin's werewolf form. And last year, he was busy with dealing with the Dark Mark returning, and watching from the sidelines, not being able to do anything to protect the boy. Voldemort really had hatched a great plan to keep others from helping Potter out. When Voldemort returned last June, he returned to Voldemort, on Dumbledore’s orders, and was once more a spy for Dumbledore. now for the person behind the character alias: Remy age: 17 experience: almost 3 years now where'd you find us?: Proboards Support anything to add?: I love Snape! lastly the roleplay sample Not my best work, but here’s a 252 post, I’ll usually post a bit more than this, especially if the one before me does too: Severus Snape sighed. He had to be one of those who watched over the Yule Ball. Just to even hold it, he had to fight the Carrows over it. After a lot of shouting and arguing, they finally allowed Snape to let the Yule Ball occur. There had to be some happiness here, or they may loose hope. The DA was stirring up enough trouble, but with the fact that the Luna girl went home, and was about to not return to Hogwarts, they would loose some hope. He was in the Great Hall, inspecting the room, in case anything bad happened, since the Carrows refused to watch, even though they loved punishment. They did not support this decision of his. Snape looked all around, see his second Dark Arts professor. There was something about him that really got to him. After noticing a student spike the punch bowl, he waved his wand inconspicuously, purifying the punch. Most of the kids seemed to fear him. Either that or they thought of him as a hero. He didn't want to be viewed as a hero. And those who feared or hated him, he wanted them to know why he did it. But it wasn't like he wasn't used to those glares. He would be able to deal with it. His arms were crossed, dressed in his normal robes. He realized, it was one of the first times he had been seen in public this year by most of the student body.
